Sector: Office Refurbishment

The client wanted to create a memorable experience for visitors entering and leaving the building. Refurbishment and careful interior design with the installation of a visually stunning chandelier fulfilled the brief.

The entrance lobby of this 200,000 sq ft central London office tower was dated and required bringing up to modern design standards to complement the tower’s iconic status.

Given the status of the building, the brief was to create a truly memorable visitor experience through refurbishment and clever interior design. This enabled to team to come up with an impactful solution.

Process and insights

With a brief to create a truly memorable office refurbishment for this landmark West End building the team were able to draw inspiration from other sectors to satisfy the requirement of the client.

To visually order and increase the impact the walls and ceilings were darkened. A trick borrowed from theatre design which quietened the complexity of the existing ceiling and allow it to be retained. A 4.5 mtr tall chandelier was hung at the centre of the ornate ceiling creating an immersive light installation. Made up for nearly 100 light fittings, the chandelier is demountable to all for reuse of its components at the end of its life.

A visually stunning new entrance space designed around the original radial grid, providing an attractive visitor experience and bringing to life the previously outdated visitor entrance.
